The baby tiger has moved to The Loft, upstairs from the Taylor's Hall Hotel (in the same courtyard as the 3 Sisters Pub), Cowgate, Edinburgh. Come see a gig!

We're not going to let a small matter of another venue closure get us down. Oh no siree! We still have some fantastic shows for you lined up in February including The Loves, My Radio, Five Day Hemingway, The Southern Tenant Folk Union , Blue Flint and The Stantons. And then from the start of March we are taking up a short residency at the Tron on Hunter Square to bring more of the fantastic music that you all love. Check this space for the listings in the next week or so. Pip Pip...

The baby tiger regrets to inform you that as the Cafe Royal has closed, so too has our new-ish venue, the Den. Please check back over the next few weeks, and we should have an alternative venue sorted....

<p>Edinburgh music promoter Baby Tiger may have moved out of their premises of 4 years - a west-end backpackers' hostel - but any tears shed will be ones of joy as the half-dozen strong collective of music lovers unveil a great new venue.</p> <p>Based on West Register Street - conveniently situated for Waverley Station - the custom-built music room named <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=55.9536,+-3.19109&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=55.953603,-3.191088&spn=0.004541,0.013497&om=1&iwloc=A">The Den</a> (located within the Cafe Royal) is set to provide a much-needed addition to the capital's haphazard set of gig venues, and put back on track an unbroken tradition of weekend shows, which has seen live music in the Liquid Room, Cabaret Voltaire, The Bongo Club, Henry's Cellar, & the late lamented Edinburgh Venue, as well as their regular home in The Swamp Bar.</p> <p>The new room opens for business on Friday 6th October with Porch Song Anthology - the band formed by former members of Scottish legends Telstar Ponies - while the following night sees theatrical popsters Scunner take to the stage of The Den. This gig is one of the monthly gigs co-promoted with Scottish magazine is this music? Other regular events include monthly indie night Pop Theory (which kicks off its residency on Saturday 14th).</p> <p>From their new home, the Baby Tiger team will continue to showcase both the best in local and international talent</p> <h5>Background:</h5> <p>In its 4 years existence Baby Tiger has brought to the capital such names as King Creosote, The Broken Family Band, Monica Queen, and Half Man Half Biscuit, and promoted shows by upcoming Scottish acts such as De Rosa, Popup, FO Machete, The Hazey Janes, Motormark... and, notably, an early performance by one KT Tunstall.</p> <p>They are also responsible for an annual festival - Tigerfest - which provides a month-long musical extravaganza - previously set in Edinburgh in August, the festival has expanded to incorporate Dunfermline, and has showcased James Yorkston, My Latest Novel, Aberfeldy, Malcolm Middleton and many others.</p>

Yes, a sad day - as of Saturday 29th July, we won't be putting on any more shows at The Swamp Bar. It's been a fun four years... A new venue should be up and running for September - more info when we get it.

well, we're nearly two weeks in, and it's been excellent so far. Between now and next Saturday there's something like 18 gigs to go to! On that note, Zuba and Diwan have unfortunately had to pull out of Saturday's show at the Swamp Bar, but never fear! The Fountainbridge Collective are here to save the day, and Das Contras and Summer Holiday are on hand also...
